Dental Implants

Restore Your Smile’s Foundation with Confidence

dental implants

Dental implants are a permanent solution for replacing missing teeth. They consist of a titanium post that is surgically implanted into the jawbone, acting as a root for the tooth. This post supports a crown, bridge, or denture, providing a stable and durable foundation that mimics natural teeth both functionally and aesthetically. Implants are favored for their ability to preserve bone, maintain facial structure, and provide a long-lasting replacement for lost teeth.

Types of Dental Implants

Single tooth implants

The most common type, replacing a single missing tooth.

Implant Supported Bridge

These are used when multiple teeth are missing, and the restoration replaces a larger space.

Implant Supported Denture

This is when all of the teeth are replaced with a prosthesis.  An overdenture is a restoration that is able to attach to multiple implants, and it can also be removed.

These prostheses are permanently placed over implants, and these are not removable.

  3. Surgical Placement – The implants are surgically placed with local anesthesia or sedation.
  4. Healing Period – There is a healing period of several months to allow the implant to integrate with the bone, a process known as osseointegration. Sometimes implant can be placed on the same day as an extraction, which will be discussed during the consultation.
  5. Abutment and Crown Placement – Once healed, an abutment is attached to the implant, and a custom-made crown is placed over it.

Question and answer

FAQS About Dental Implants

Most patients report that the discomfort is minimal, especially compared to the extraction procedure, and can be managed with medication and proper care.
Most adults in good health are suitable candidates for implants, although factors like bone density and gum health are important considerations.
Care for them just like natural teeth: regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups.
The process can take several months from start to finish due to the healing time required between surgery and crown placement.
Costs vary based on the number of implants and the complexity of the procedure but investing in implants can be cost-effective over the long term due to their durability.
Coverage varies; some plans may cover a portion of the cost of implants.
Procedures like bone grafting may be recommended to increase bone volume and enable the placement of implants.
Implants provide a more permanent solution, do not slip or move, and offer greater functional benefits and aesthetic results.
Expect some swelling and minor discomfort immediately following the procedure, but most daily activities can be resumed the next day.
